A must see. Embodies an authentic charisma of a young and beautiful Romy Schneider and smoothly takes you away in time &space. I watched all the sequels while I was spending my winter high school break in Paris with my best friends. Very compelling memory.

MÃ¤dchenjahre einer KÃ¶nigin (1954) The main attraction in this film is and always will be Romy Schneider. It may be a dress-rehersal for the Sissi movies, but without the innocent charm of those, but retainning the same naÃ (R)ve tone throughout. Somehow it feels strange and silly when the English royalty is speaking German...

This has to be my all time favourite. I remember seeing this movie as a little girl at our local cinema in the golden era of theatre going here locally. I loved the fairytale cinderella aspect of it; after all my mum fed me nutritious food simultaneously to feeding my brain with endless fairytales - it was the only way I could sit down long enough to digest healthy as opposed to fast food. The story also recounts the empress' rebelliousness against conventions, something I could empathise with being something of a rebel myself. So I could easily project myself, mentally, into this heroine's role.

Un grand classique que je peux voir et revoir aÂ l'infini...costumes et paysages magnifiques, une histoire supra romantique comme je les aime, et bien sure Romy schneider, plus somptueuse que jamais!
