Love this trilogy movie. Beatiful gowns, makes you want to be from that time periode. I used to watch it with my mom when I was a kid.

love the movie. grew up with it but Sissi wasen't an Austrian princess. She was bavarian she became the Austrian empress.

Well this film - or rather the whole trilogy - is beyond reviews. A childhood classic that I have seen at least a 100 times. Love the costumes, the melodrama and the fainting scene. What a masterpiece!

I'll write about the series at greater length soon. The first Sissi is the best, but the second increases the tension between the fairy tale romance and the get- of the first. By the final film she wins people over not by teaching them to get down but by exercising a carefully threaded political charm - and motherhood. Maybe they're not the Austrian royal version of the Beach Blanket Bingo movies I first took them for, but they do paint a pretty picture of society on the verge of tumultuous change.
