Okay, first off--the MPAA (or CARA or whoever the hell they're known as now) needs to pull their heads out of the sand and re-rate this movie. There is NOTHING in this movie that would warrant an R rating! PG (or perhaps PG-13 because of extensive use of the N word) but R? PLEASE!! Now that's out of the way--this movie was FANTASTIC! The late Karl Malden really and truly shows his superb acting talent in this, and Carroll Baker and Eli Wallach? WOW! Man, I can't think of any scene from any movie today that would even hold a candle to the sultry and sexual tension that these two actors were able to portray with near perfection! Perhaps some others may be put off by the thumb-sucking and the make of the bed, but still--it's an incredible movie to watch. Well-done and well-directed. :)

Absolutely loved it. Tennessee Williams created some of the most interesting and memorable characters.

Oh what a subversive film for its time. Karl Malden and Eli Wallach are tremendous as the plot unfolds to an uncertain ending. Tremendous.

Really this is the greatest film of Tennessee Williams. This also might be Elia Kazans best movie. Karl Malden and Carol Baker are fantastic. very powerful film making in black and white. Not for Kids. five stars

Wow, this one really stood out there especially for it's time. It's nearly all dialog which is okay because it is all story! Brilliantly done with over-the-top acting at times adds to my liking!
