It’s Jasmine’s inept and unprofessional behavior during the film’s climactic trial that really sends the film into absurdist territory. It’s outdone only by a final sequence of events with a horror-show twist that might best be described as bonkers.

While the performances are stronger and the narrative is more coherent than you’d see in a “Madea” movie, for example, Perry’s latest still features many of the auteur’s trademarks: dizzying tonal swings, awkward blocking, drab lighting, jarring edits and a mixture of the salacious and the puritanical.

I somehow made it through the entire 2 hours of this. I liked the premise of this film which is what lured me in. I’m sure the cast are very capable actors but are made to look bad by the abysmal script and the eye rolling “dramatic” music.

The fact that a director and actor as mediocre as Tyler Perry continues to get funding and distribution tells more of the audience than of those who work with him and his company and that's both sad and worrisome. This awful film is yet another perfect example of how little he tries to do something with quality. I mean he said the shooting took only five days. Five days!!!. It's just ridiculous. Netflix doesn't drag its prestige, it barely has some, but shows how much money it can throw away with its lousy quality control.
