#WoodyAllenRetro Podcast Project Another clear masterpiece from Woody's filmography - from the handheld camerawork to the reality behind the scenes execution and then of course the dissection of marriage and infidelity with both insight, humour, brashness and raw honesty... it's the superior version of what was accomplished in hannah and her sisters in our book and by god Juliette Lewis gives a great performance BEFORE her more ditzy persona roles that followed... this is a mature look at relationships and further shows woodys innovation.. and maybe even touching on themes that would soon be a bit too close to things in his real life at the time - which actually only made the movie that more relevant!

Allen's finest movie: experimental camera work that adds an edge to these already edgy themes; killer casting selection, particularly Juliette Lewis (Oral Sex in the Age of Deconstruction!!!), beyond-witty dialogue, and Allen's eerie way of making the shittiest, most unlikable characters people it is possible to admire.

Brilliant film that expresses the point of view that love is, essentially, an illusion. But the critics who called it depressing are simply wrong; as with all Allen films, there is the possibility of hope; even though Allen's character resists the rashness and spontaneity of a phony romantic moment, he is ultimately lost without some kind of stabilising companionship that Allen as director believes that marriage provides.

Stunning!!! Intenso drama sobre el matrimonio y las relaciones humanas en general. La dirección de cámaras y la fotografía son particularmente notables en este opus de Woody Allen. El guión excelente como siempre y las actuaciones realmente convincentes. Me conmovió y me hizo reconsiderar varias ideas y preconcepciones.

[i][b]Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex *But Were Afraid to Ask[/b][/i] >> Woody Allen at his wonderfully zany humour. [i][b]Husbands and Wives[/b][/i] >> One of Woody Allen's best. Up there with [i]Annie Hall[/i] and [i]Manhattan[/i]. The characters, dialogue, and subtle humour are just excellent. [i][b] Casino Royale[/b][/i] >> One of the best Bond films that I've seen. Very stylish with better writing than the recent Bond ventures (excluding [i]GoldenEye[/i], which is my favorite Bond film). It nice to see how Bond became Bond and why he is so detached from love.
