Based primarily on the first game in the series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, the film focuses on rookie defense attorney Phoenix Wright, as he strives to protect his clients in various murder trials, including the death of his mentor, Mia Fey, and the accusation of rival prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth. Phoenix's greatest ally is Mia's younger sister Maya, a spirit medium whose body is possessed by Mia to communicate with him.

The movie managed to capture the law system in a very accurate way, but it falls short on the action the games provided. The movie was boring, the actors pretty inexpressive, the voice was weak. The movie was weak, guilty.

Literal adaptation of video game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney presents a convoluted story line that will be completely known to those who played the game. Those who haven't played the game are unlikely to actually be interested, and then might just be turned off by the film's silly tone, ugly design and cheap effects. Hiroki Narimiya as Phoenix Wright aka Naruhodo in native Japan, looks the part, though.

So much fun! Certainly not for everyone, but for those who can appreciate quirky, over the top, manga-like humour, story, settings and characters, it's a joyride. Haven't played any of the Ace Attorney games, and I only missed few jokes. Please proceed.

Is it a bad movie? Yes. Was it meant to be amazing? No way. It is meant to be a huge thank you to the fans for the game's tenth anniversary, and on that note, it succeeds beautifully.
