One of the weirdest animated features I've ever seen. And it's also really good! 'Felidae' is a noir crime thriller about talking cats. After moving into a house with his owner, Francis begins to explore his new home while meeting other cats in the neighborhood. When one of his neighbors is brutally murdered Francis feels obligated to track down the killer. This ain't the 'Aristocats' folks. 'Felidae' is pure insanity. It includes horrifically bloody murders, violent cat fights, cults of cats, a sex scene (yep, involving cats, and completely unnecessary) and a bizarre plan to breed a species of cats who are genetically superior to humans. I love this movie, but I understand why it's not to everyone's liking.

It's a movie that was made to NOT be successful. An animated crime story with violence, sex, allucinated dreams, racism, all played by cats? World wasn't ready for this in 1994. Watching it now, it's a great movie, it has some minor plot holes and maybe the murderer is a little bit too easy to guess, but the animation is really good, the story is compelling and oniric sequences are really crazy. Just 2 advice: -this is not The Incredible Mouse Detective, it's a real pulp story (no kids allowed) -even if I can't speak german I prefer to watch it in german with sub (really bad english dubbing, sorry)

This movie is very original,I mean what other movie about animated cats has brutality and gore (and sometimes a little bit of dark comedy). Also if you are a parent you should watch this movie before you let your kids watch it to judge if its appropriate for them, because this certaintly isn't 'The Aristocats'.

I'm so sick of people thinking all animation has to be just for kids and just humour. Felidae was absolutely AMAZING, and the story was very good (even though I had a hint towards the real ending for a while there).

Horrible murders are going on in a city with a falling reputation. Francis, a natural born inspector is on the case and he slowly get's to know friends and foes in his circuts. Why all the gruesome killings? Action, dream sequences, girls, gore, sex, drinking, coursing - it's all there. Not much new here sadly, it's typically told, but the approach deserves attention - it's a cartoon. With cats only. That's way cool. 5.5 out of 10 can openers.
