Ace High (1968)

After Cacopoulos manages to save himself from being hung on a false charge, he robs Cat Stevens and Hutch Bessy of a lot of money and steals their horses. This results in a merry chase and Stevens and Bessy become unwilling allies in Cacopoulus' revenge against the people who deserted him and framed him to get their money back.

Un film che prende molti degli stilemi degli spaghetti western, qualche occhiataccia alla Leone e una trama fin troppo lunga. Il film che ne esce è migliorabile ma neppure brutto, la scena decisamente meritevole è la sparatoria finale, con la pallina che gira nella roulette che si incrocia con gli sguardi dei duellanti.

Disappointingly slow & uninvolving spag western. Wallach tries to rehash his Tuco character from GB&U. Best scene is the set-up to the final shootout with the gunfighters shuffling into place, very surreal.

A watchable western from the classic era blending adventure with humour. Dazzling direction and some nice cinematography make up for a rather forgettable story. Some of the individual scenes are great though and Eli Wallach is majestic.
