Angst has never been displayed so beautifully than through the story of these trivial suburban nutjobs, each one of them a well-developed catastrophe. Fantastic performances from the entire cast and beautiful direction from Ang Lee.

Astounding drama, incredibly thought provoking and touching. The young cast and Older are nothing but amazing, visually stunning too

What do you get when you combine Tobey Maguire, Elijah Wood, Christina Ricci, Kevin Kline, Joan Allen and Sigourney Weaver? And then have Ang Lee direct? Awesomeness, that's what. A great story showing the downfall of two suburban Connecticut families in the 70's. Great performances all around.

Such an overlooked masterpiece of near-contemporary American bourgeois suburban angst. Outstanding performances all around, especially from Kevin Kline, whose final moment in the film as it cuts to black is devestating, and Christina Ricci. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours."
