A painfully misconceived reduction and simplification by writer Waldo Salt and director John Schlesinger of the great Nathanael West novel about Hollywood in the late 30s.

Hollywood as Dante's Inferno. A perfect double bill with "They Shoot Horse, Don't They?"...if you are feeling truly suicidal.

An incredible portrait of lost dreams and intense obsession in 1930s Hollywood. Definitely a credit to 1970s cinema.

Ignored since its release, but a powerful adaptation of the Nathaniel West classic.

Schlesinger's wonderful film adaptation of Nathaniel West's shocking novel. an insightful view of characters in 1930's Hollywood with an ending that will blow you out of the water
