If it falls a bit short as human drama, however, Szumowska’s latest — a 180-degree turn from her last, the excellent Polish allegorical tale “Never Gonna Snow Again” — is fully satisfying as an appreciation of Nature as magnificent adversary.

Looks like another PC Feminist garbage movie I won't waste a second of my time watching! Strong Mary Sue women in a disaster and weak man. Everyone knows it's the opposite when **** hits the fan.

Naomi Watts plays a climber who sets out to ascend Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, but a big blizzard complicates matters. Even more so, she discovers a lone man stranded in the snow and determines to get them both out alive. Since this is based on a true story, you have to accept the unlikely scenarios and just enjoy the hike. Even with several setbacks, there's never any sense of peril that develops. The 30 minutes after they return attempts to add an emotional element to the journey, but ultimately falls flat. While the ordeal is interesting and the look is impressively snowy, the lack of tension keeps the film from being truly involving.

The imagery by cinematographer Michal Englert is stupendous, but the dialogue and plot by actor-turned-screenwriter Joshua Rollins, who also has a small role in the film, are a bit too minimal. Infinite Storm always shows the perils we face but never explains them.

The film’s inertness is unexpected, and a tad disappointing, considering that first-time screenwriter Joshua Rollins has unearthed some genuinely fascinating details about Bales’s backstory that were not in either published account of the rescue.
