This version is so much better than the new one. The robot could have been 100 feet tall like the one in the new one, but who am I to decide?

Pioneering the sci-fi genre by presenting extraterrestrial life in a different light than usually. Sticks with you after the credits roll and lays the groundwork for future movies like "Arrival".

Classic flick, set in DC so I really enjoy seeing landmarks of the hometown. Pretty forward-thinking eco message for its time.

After watching this, I'm afraid to watch the remake. This is not so much because the original scared me (it is creepy though) and I think the new one will be scarier. I just don't want to see this great movie butchered. This is truly a great movie that deserves its status as a classic.

Hands down, one of the best films I've seen. It's so powerful. It's also amazing, and unfortunate, how relevant the social commentary remains today. I watched the Collectors Edition. Great 2nd disc with bonus features. Featurette: Sci Fi as Metaphor was my fav. Also a kick to see 50's news & PSA. (6-17-09)
