Sean Bean is great as Sharpe - I liked the movie more than the book because of him and O'Malley. Well cast. The story is limited, but enjoyable. Much prefer Lucky Jack Aubrey.

Perfect summer matiné movie and a rather succesful adaptation of Cornwell's first two books about our favorite rifleman (well, at least if you read them chronologically).

It's not a bad film. Better directing and actors all around could have drastically improved it, though the script could have used some work with the fairly predictable dialogue. I've now watched the first one and this, and the greatest strength of these films is also the greatest weakness: Sean Bean casts a huge shadow. Not to say he's overacting. It's simply that he seems so real in the role, and almost every other actor seems to be trying so hard.

Sen Bean was a good pick for this character.
