One of my favourite book series turned into a lively and well done tv-movie series. Originally saw this on PBS

Since I don't want to write one review per episode for the Sharpe series I just write on here. The entire Sharpe series is absolutely wonderful. The story is great, the actors great and the script perfect. The music is also something extra, John Tams (also plays a part) is a great singer and "Over the Hills and Far Away" is addictive. Sharpe lands on a grade of 10 out of 5.

Watched Sharpeâ(TM)s Rifles yesterdayâ¦..it was awesome :D, if I ever was in a battle, I would gladly follow Lieutenant Richard Sharpe into battle. The idea of an uprising being inspired by just the rising of a flag was fair, but more importantly, we got Patrick Harper, Daniel Hagman, and even Teresa introduced.

"Sharpe's Rifles" is the beginning film in a series of television films about Richard Sharpe(Sean Bean), who is promoted from sergeant to lieutenant after saving the life of General Arthur Wellesley(later the Duke of Wellington) during the Napoleonic Wars. It gets better as it goes along, thus serving as a pretty entertaining introduction to the series. A marvelous Brian Cox steals the show. But there is an awfully anachronistic electric guitar score.

Bean, O'Malley, and everyone else work perfectly in the entire series, and while this first one is a little awkward, it still manages to get us introduced to almost everyone who we'll learn to love over the next twelve or so movies.
