A coming of age drama, Written and Directed by The Sopranos creator David Chase, also set in New Jersey in the background of the British invasion of America. A killer soundtrack and some nice dramatic moments.

The main plot and the central characters are likable, and there are lots of laughs. But the film is overly long due to too much attention to a couple of unnecessary subplots. It loses its way somewhat about two-thirds of the way through. But overall, an enjoyable trip to the 60s.

Chase's critical eye spares no one. This is his attempt to make the "Great American Film About Music." He almost succeeds.

The Soprano's David Chase takes to the big screen with what I assume is an autobiographical tale of some NJ teens who, inspired by the Beatles & the Stones, start a band in the 60's. Lots of great scenes but somehow doesn't all quite come together although it does have an very weird ending (just like the Soprano's). Tons of terrific archival footage and an outstanding soundtrack!
