A coming-of-age movie filled with songs and probably based on director David Chase's own teen years in a rock band.

The film's take on music in the 1960s is well thought and presented. The music may be the best part; however, Chase does certainly know how to make a film like this special.

The music isn't just what makes Not Fade Away so appealing. Chase's depiction of a dream deferred, both for the young musicians with big-city ambitions and for the James Gandolfini character, gives the whole film a melancholic feel that's difficult to describe.

We know what's coming, it isn't terribly original, but it's hard not to like it. You won't discover a new sound that you've never heard before, but you'll sit back and sing along.
