Midnight Movie (1994)

American producer James Boyce and his airhead wife Amber rent an English country mansion where the British horror flick "Smoke Rings" was filmed twenty years previous. Amber's mother was model-actress Mandy Mason, who died mysteriously after her appearance in "Smoke Rings." The property rental to Boyce was arranged by middle-aged lawyer Henry Harris, who continues to live with his lovesick memories of the late actress. Boyce invites Harris to dinner, and "Smoke Rings" airs on TV that same evening. During the following days, Harris observes Amber's behaviour paralleling events experienced both by her mother and in the movie.

Surprisingly, a lot of fun. Of course, Midnight Movie suffers from the cliches that every slasher does, but that doesn't stop it from being a bloody entertaining film. The concept of a killer that can move in and out of his own slasher flick is certainly a fresh one, and some of the gore gags are great. Definitely check it out for fun, mindless entertainment.

It wasnt brilliant, there were some awful scenes, which were more embarrassing than scary, but i was still entertained.....Worth a watch.

Solid low-budget horror flick with some inventive kills, cool effects, gore, and decent characters. Not life-changing or a complete reinvention of the genre, but pretty damned fun and worth your time.

Great story, and fairly decent acting. You find that many of the characters are genuine, and that the manner in which this film is shot is pretty well-done, sans one bout of poor CGI. Reminiscent of an Are you Afraid of the Dark episode with the vampire movie, but great. Not scary, but interesting. The writing could have been a bit more complete, but whatever.
