Beautifully photographed in black and white, if I wasn't in love with New York before I am now. Woody Allen's aptly called "love song to New York", Manhattan, was romantic, witty and full of captivating disenchantment.

This movie is so witty, powerfully moving and thought provoking, that a long review here would not be enough. There are only two words that are enough to describe just how perfect this movie is, in which dialogues and scenes are as natural as live ones, and yet the magic of the seventh art is never lost in them: Woody Allen.

...sigh... Me watching this movie is a lot like a small dog watching the cheeseburger on the counter. Everything accomplished in Annie Hall is done here without quotation marks. Gorgeous cinematography, music, deeper performances...the bump on the way to two people's happiness (Keaton & Murphy) draws a small world of romantic confusion into orbit.

I cannot heap enough praise on this film, the opening credits sum it all up for me, and that closing scene - with all its ambiguity - just chokes me up every time.
