A tender, heartbreaking, challenging, emotional, disturbing and human. Midnight Express is a genius film that explores Billy Hayes's life in a turkish prison for smuggling hash. This film shows how insanity can take over when you are at your weakest. Alan Parker direction and Oliver Stone's script are nothing short of inceindiary. Brad Davis should have gotten an Oscar nomination for his brilliantly haunting performance. John Hurt is amazing as he always is. Giogorio Moroder's score is pacing and brilliant. This film is nothing short of a classic. Midnight Express shows that the emotional confilcts that people can go through can make them stroger in the mean time. Brilliant! ****

probably my all time favourite film. Scary, heart wrenching tale of a traveller entangled in drug running bust. Incredible emotions brought to the fore as we watch the defendant try to come to terms with life in a Turkish jail. John hurt is earily impressive as a junkie. The film ends with as an endrenalin surging scene as it starts. Truly a wonderful film

Truly outstanding picture, that showed in England for a long while as a double bill with 'Taxi Driver'. Filmed entirely in Malta and using Maltese actors/extras instead of Turkish, this picture was so powerful that it almost killed off tourism to Turkey (stone dead) and maybe drug smuggling to. Both Brad Davis and John Hurt are on fine form and it's the very nature of being in a no win situation, that makes large portions of 'Midnight Express' pretty depressing. Still there are a couple light hearted moments, a sort of happy ending and Alan Parker's direction is magnificent. Based on true events.

It is a powerful movie, a great 'prison escape' film. And it sure is one of the best films ever made. Enjoyed every bit of it.
