Worth seeing just for the acting. I'm not sure the screenplay really made a convincing argument for the main character's internal struggle, but it's shot beautifully. I did fall for the half-mystical schtick and stuck with with, ultimately unsure that it held together. But like I said, Rami Malek is just enchantingly talented.

The film straddles the line between absurdly comical and a building desperation that is tempered through compassion. At times it's hard to tell which way the film will go, and this in and of itself is a treat these days.

Buster's Mal Heart is a very hard movie to describe. It is very unique and ambitious. It doesn't really fit a genre. Rami Malek is excellent in the lead role. As a big fan of his work in Mr. Robot, he was the reason why I watched this movie, and he amazes. He definitely steals the show. The supporting cast is good also. The plot is complex and very hard to piece together. There are many interlocking stories. While it is very ambitious, sometimes it is too ambitious. The connections between the stories aren't very present. While it fun to figure out what happened, sometimes it just doesn't make sense. Also, the film has a very slow pace. Sometimes you just want the story to move. Overall, this is an ambitious but flawed movie, saved by an excellent performance from Rami Malek.

Smith's eye for arresting images is as strong as Malek's gift for being both present in the moment and lost in his character's anxieties.

Nice idea, but in the end, fail. Rami Malek is excellent but the storyline is under-developed and the pace is plodding, teasing a Shymalan-type ending but the plot never fully resolves, as if the director is going, "You get it, right??". If you're in the mood for a quality psycho-drama mind-fuck, go retro and watch Memento or Fight Club.
