A tough, gritty film with an awesome performance by McQueen.

There's some pacing issues in the middle act, but it is indeed the classic everyone says it is. And pretty violent for a PG rated film, even for the time! Fantastic shotgun sequences and the cross-cut bank robbery (with the fabulous score) just blow your mind.

sam peckinpah hits the mark again with another great flick. This is a great heist film with a beautiful supporting actress and a bad ass who robs banks and kills his enemies all without getting his suit dirty.

Classic heist movie directed by Sam Peckinpah. A slow, thoughtful love story intertwined with all the thrills and spills of the chase. Steve McQueen, one of the most iconic actors ever, is paired with Ali MacGraw, and their palpable chemistry makes for a great, anti-heroic screen romance.

The Getaway is one of the greatest action films I've ever seen. It is one of those rare films where the stars align perfectly - it has the grit of director, Sam Peckinpah, the charisma and coolness of Steve McQueen, the sexiness of Ali MacGraw, a slick jazz score by music extraordinaire, Quincy Jones, and somehow, despite being style over substance, it is still a perfect, magnificent, glorious, thrilling action film from beginning to end. Sure, the plot doesn't always make sense, but you won't care, you're gonna be having too much fun as The Getaway takes you on one hell of a ride that never dulls and never lets up until the end. I was gripped, I was thrilled, I found it sexy, and I loved every damn minute of it. You'd be hard-pressed to find an action film of this sort of quality. It's the very definition of slick and cool. I consider it to be one of the 50 greatest films I've ever seen and if you consider yourself a fan of action films, you owe it to yourself to see this genre masterpiece. It is absolutely fucking glorious.
