it may be old but it still works no matter how many times you see it

Hitch certainly plays fast and very loose when it comes to the plot here, but the frantic pace and often hilarious set pieces makes this one of my all time favourite thrillers. The film plays like a less bombastic precursor to 'North by Northwest', Donat has all the charm of Grant and carries the films easily. Despite the films frenzied nature, Hitch still finds time for some touching smaller moments, like the farmers housewife whose instant of longing for escape and adventure is left to linger on screen for a second after being kissed by Donat. Hitchcock's oft noted playfulness is also evident in droves making for a film that provides eighty of the most fun minutes you will find in cinema.

Pure bravura filmmaking on Hitchcock's part, and Donat and Carroll are fantastic. This film surely belongs in any list of the Master's five greatest movies.

You - "B & W movies are boring" Me - I dare you to watch this movie and not get sucked in. Give it five minutes (okay, maybe just until the initial intrigue kicks in) and you'll be hooked. Favorite scene is when the main character stumbles into a political convention while running away from the police, is mistaken for a candidate, and makes up a speech so full of cliche and rhetoric, the crowd goes wild.
