A thing of rare beauty made glorious by an exceptional performance from Emma Thompson. Her performance raises a strong and intelligent script to virtual perfection. Granted it isn't always easy to watch but then why does everything have to be easy?

I hate to admit it but this is the only movie that makes me cry like a baby. It is not widely available but it is so so good and so sad and depressing. Its about a university professor who has no friends or family and is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
