Highly stimulating, its stream flow into your vein and wham! marijuana is not the right word but its the first word that comes to mind.

I was totally taken with this movie: the characters are just incredible! An amazing portrait of criminals fo all kinds, and their paths to crime. Both compassionate and critical at the same time - just the right blend. And great as a mirror to our easy acceptance of state violence, too.

Touching film about the life in an overcrowded Brazilian prison where we get to know each character through his own personal opinion of himself and of the crime that brought him there. Very good story and cinematography indeed!

Despite the brutality of the subject, Carandiru is a trully sensible movie and a subtle vision of life in Sao Paulo's hellish prison. Who ever loved the movie City of God will most likely enjoy this one. A great movie without a doubt.
