In London, barrister Anthony Keane takes the case of Maddalena Paradine, a beautiful woman accused of poisoning her blind husband. Though happily married, Keane becomes infatuated with his enigmatic client and convinced of her innocence. OK. To say that about a Hitchcock movie means it was quite a let down. Peck did well but the main female character of Mrs Paradine was not included enough to care about her so the intrigue was somewhat lost.

Gregory Peck's off day....totally miscast. The misogny as a driver of so many characters in this movie is underplayed. Charles Laughton scene steals from Peck.

A bizarrely mixed bag. An intriguing storyline and some excellent acting, but it also had several major flaws. The first being that the femme fatale seductress was neither alluring nor compelling. Combine that lack of any obvious cause for Gregory Peck's infatuation with the decision to never show his character's emotions or reasonings directly, but only the insinuations of those around him, and it became very difficult to be engaged by the main character. Perhaps the whole thing is just a touch too subtle and understated for me, but it seems like such a shame, as some relatively minor tweaks could have made this a terrific movie.

Interesting Hitchcock court case movie, the story is intriguing yet very uneven, and the ending just seemed a little silly, but it definitely has its moments.
