Tied with "Ran" as my favorite film from my favorite director, Akira Kurosawa. This is a film that is incredibly sorrowful yet incredibly hopeful at the same time. One of the few films that I believe could actually change the lives of those who watch it.

"Vivere" di Kurosawa Ã¨ la storia del riscatto di un grigio burocrate che solo poco prima di morire comprende il senso della vita e si batte per lasciare dietro di se un qualcosa di bello per le generazioni future (non a caso un parco giochi per bambini). Interpretato da un eccezionale Takashi Shimura, in grado di restituire un vasto spettro di emozioni ben calibrate, "Vivere" Ã¨ anche un'amara riflessione sulla burocrazia e la sua incapacitÃ di avvicinarsi alle esigenze dei cittadini. Una lezione ancora molto attuale e che dimostra - se ce ne fosse ancora bisogno - che il cinema di Kurosawa Ã¨ in grado di calarsi perfettamente in storie lontane dal mondo dei samurai in cui spesso il regista nipponico Ã¨ stato conosciuto in Occidente.
