The Greatest Akira Kurasawa Film there is nothing greater then this movie.

It's one of Kurosawa's best films ever made. The way he looks at the bureaucracy in society is timeless and the film has such a great story. It's definitely something I'll recommend on any day of the week.

A truly moving and heartfelt film that is also inspirational. I think it changes you, you're not really the same after viewing this wonderful film. it stays with you.

Great story by Kurosawa on contemporary life and work in modern day bureaucracies and, essentially, the meaning of life.

I remember first watching this movie when I was fourteen. Then my brother bought it for me for my 21st birthday. The film takes place in Post-War Tokyo. Kurosawa depicts Watanabe as a mechanical, hard-working citizen who comes to find out he may only have a short amount of time to live--due to stomach cancer. Although his life seems boringly mundane, Kurosawa uncovers the compassion of Watanabe, where he ultimately impacts all of those around him in such a positive manner. You learn what Watanabe thinks about life, through his expressions and interactions after the bad news...Wonderfully directed.
