I was a teenager when I was first enchanted by this fable regarding two modern youths who get sucked into the world of an idealized 1950's sitcom. This film has themes of conformity, sexuality, adolescent growth, and intellectual expansion that speak with resounding volume to me. It also helps that the cinematography is so breathtaking and that the acting is so excellent. It all comes together to make Pleasantville one of my all-time favorite movies.

This movie is amazing. Beyond the obvious satire it has so many exceptional merits. Nuanced messages, like the 90s are in fact more moral in every way compared to the nostalgically utopian 50s, make this an impeccable example of filmmaking. The directing and writing is fantastic. Acting is excellent. Even the score, by Randy Newman, can be appreciated more than most movies. Amazing.

This movie is absolutely fantastic. There are so many metaphors, so many ideas and morals that come across in this film, that its merely impossible to understand its message in one sitting. It is one of the most beautiful movies i have seen in a long long while. If you haven't seen this movie then by all means go rent it!!
