The Laramie Project (2002)

"The Laramie Project" is set in and around Laramie, Wyoming, in the aftermath of the murder of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard. To create the stage version of "The Laramie Project," the eight-member New York-based Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming, recording hours of interviews with the town's citizens over a two-year period. The film adaptation dramatizes the troupe's visit, using the actual words from the transcripts to create a portrait of a town forced to confront itself.

A fascinating chorus of outrage and sadness, hatred and hope.

Predictable,. maybe, but the Matthew Shepard story touched me so much that I could not say anything but good things about this film. I was totally captured by it, and was sucked into the world of Laramie for the duration. The only let down for me was Joshua Jackson, who can do nothing but play Pacey from Dawsons Creek....he has just one style. But the rest of the actors, particularly those playing the actors from the theatre themselves, gave stunning performances.

Brilliant film adaptation of Kaufman's play. The all star cast is perfect. This on really tugs at the heart-strings.

An eclectic mix of talented actors lend their hands in this gripping and saddening story. The documentary style is used nicely, but also distracts from the story and characters. The characters, although played well, aren't given enough screen-time to have any emotional effect of the viewers.

Beautiful! I hate having my heart ache and I hate crying, but some things are just worth it
