Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon have rarely been better, in the story of a man who gets one final chance to realize his dream.

My favorite of Malle's american movies, this one is actually a canadian film. Impressive mix of crime drama and social study with good performances from the cast, especially Lancaster & Sarandon in the lead. It has some strange quirky moments with a very black humour and bittersweet tone.

One of my all-time favourites. Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon deliver masterful performances in this gritty and realistic portrait of various people struggling to make it in this world. Louis Malle is a cinematic genius.

Pair this up with The Swimmer and you have a compendium of Lancaster's depth over the years. Susan Sarandon is always phenomenal. Well worth watching again.
