L'art mannien m'impressionne de plus en plus. Ici, la mise en scene s'applique a penser l'humiliation du heros. C'est profond et emouvant. Sergio Leone s'est souvenu de ce film pour creer l'homme sans nom de la trilogie des dollars : le detail de la mule, entre autres idees, ne trompe pas.

Having just watched The Searchers the previous week, this western is not the best, but there are some strong redeeming features. The acting is strong, the scenery is great, and the shootouts are quite exciting. Unfortunately, the plot is deficient at times and seems to lose its a way during the film. This film needed quite a bit more action to it. That being said, it is an a okay western.

I found this western film lacking, despite having the star power of James Stewart. He plays an army colonel who is searching for a specific man who has something to do with the death of his brother. But the fi;ms big problem is that he spends most of the movie being reactive, letting others bully and harm him without much else. The movie doesn't have a very satisfying ending either so this western film fails in my opinion.
