The Keep (1983)

Set during World War II, a German army garrison is sent to guard a mountain pass in a village in Romania's Carpathian mountains and sets up barracks in an ancient stone fortress. Two of the soldiers unwittingly release a mysterious entity that kills or corrupts those within its influence, drawing the attention of a Gestapo commander, a Jewish scholar, and a mysterious traveller.

my favorite of all time horror. makes the 3rd Reich look like a bunch of cadets. I enjoyed this movie a few times and rate it highly.

This movie is such a gem to watch, before digital effects, it has that grit and grime factor, you can't see from movies of this genre anymore. The soundtrack is awesome, Now I know where Nine Inch nails get there influence. Great performance by Ian Mckellan. This could be a great remake if carefully executed. One of those great movies on the cheese factor, It must be seen at least once or twice if your a geek like me.

A little seen film and in some cases this is probably a good thing, as it shows up an early and poor screen outing for the usually superb Ian McKellen. Still I like the concept though I haven?t read the book (which explains the incoherence of the film) it has some Nazi?s, a rubbish monster man suit and some great music from Tangerine Dream.
