Not only does this film gloriously fulfill the potential that Ira Sachs has tantalized movie-lovers with for years, it also help explains what took him so long. Out of lost love comes a terrific work of art; it's the oldest story in the world, but it always feels new when it's done right.

De todas as coisas que me surpreenderam durante "Keep the Lights On" a maior foi a capidade do Paul em manter o mesmo emprego durante os 9 anos em que a história se passa. Spoiler alert: nem a relação entre Paul e Erik dura tanto tempo. Mas focando no filme, gostei das atuações e da história, entendo a razão para o final ser como é, mas mesmo assim ainda tinha uma esperança de que o Erik iria encontrar alguém no fim. A moral da história é simples: Não importa a força do amor entre duas pessoas, um viciado sempre vai escolher a droga.
