I have not seen this movie in a long time

7.5/10. One of the best ever filmings of a Sherlock Holmes story. Superbly acted, especially by Basil Rathbone. Good screenpolay, excellent atmosphere and wonderful production.

Oh, this is a Classic, a Classic indeed... The Rathbone profile, the still Canonical setting... The still-not-so-mumbliing-bumbling-Watson... The whole Rathbone/Bruce series is a legend, of course, but this is the Beginning of the Adventure, so it just deserves to be honoured.

A thrilling dark and gritty mystery/crime movie, the first of 14 movies starring Basil Rathbone as legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as his stalwart sidekick Dr. James Watson

Holmes is great, Its a toss up between Rathbone or Cushion as my favourite Holmes, but the black and white just edges out the great Hammer adaption.
