this and 'bllod alley' stand as 2 prime examples of wayne miscast as he tried 2 broaden his appeal and acting chops.

John Wayne really didn't fit the role well. Otherwise, a pretty decent movie.

The is literally the only John Wayne film truly love. Its a wonderful ride through japanese culture at the end of their isolation. Our two cultures clash in the form of a love that can never be, and a country (Japan) that wishes (for preservation of its traditions) to pretend its the only land in existence. beautiful imagery, & cinematography. Loved it.
