Fitzcarraldo (1982)

Watching Fitzcarraldo is to experience every pull of this insane seemingly insurmountable effort of the natives. One gets sucked further into Kinski's twisted psyche, only looking forward and allowing his vision to get blurry in every other direction. A beautiful and hunting tale of art and obsession, the type of thesis that Herzog does best.

Werner Herzog is one of those few directors that can take things to the extreme. He's an extremist in that sense. And what's amazing about this film in particular is the genius of Klaus Kinski, who would break fight with Herzog, coz they're both are mad. I love Herzog and his madness.

Now there is a special place in history for maniacs such as Klaus Kinski. And the recording of Fitzcarraldo is a drama in itself. Or a PR hype by Herzog. Anyway, this is a fascinating epic in the vein of the others I like.

Bloody amazing in every way. Kinski is brilliant. Everyone that loves a great story, a great script, and are willing to stand humbled by a filmmaker's dedication need to see this.
