An 18th century poet travels through time in search of divine wisdom. In a mysterious wasteland, he has a series of enigmatic encounters with symbolic phantoms with whom he muses about the nature of art and his own career. Ultimately, the poet strives to achieve his rebirth as a celestial being.

A brilliant work of art. It's like a beautiful Percocet dream.

Much less enjoyable than any of his other films. I had trouble with this film because it was just Cocteau making a film about himself. Okay, I believe more than anyone that he was a true artistic genius, but when he writes a story about himself being beyond the natural boundaries of time and space, I begin to question his nerve. There's no great plot, the creativity is much higher on other of his projects, and there's just way too much of him. Don't watch this movie unless you want to watch a couple hours of plotless self-appraisal by Cocteau.

An autobiographical tale of an artist lost in a world of his own making. Blending documentary and fiction, concluding his Orphic trilogy, Testament of Orpheus is a masterpiece by one of the greatest film artists we have had.

As the Poet (Cocteau) navigates his way through meaningless symbols on a voyage of self-discovery and the meaning of reality we get a sense that Cocteau maybe the impish offspring of Luis Bunuel and Alejandro Jodorowsky.

Il y a une histoire dans ce film ? Je dois dire que je n'en sais rien... mais à regarder particulièrement pour "l'originalité", enfin tout l'art cinématographique, soit les costumes, les "effets visuels", etc.
