Cocteau is a revolutionary expressionist that does not belong to the surrealism movement as any Buñuel fan would claim. His purposes were merely artistic and his first masterful debut of the bizarre is a passionate tribute to the enigmatic. Dreamlike and seductive, Le Sang d'un Poète is a breathtaking journey into the realm of the type of mind we will never understand unless we take our lives towards another direction. 99/100

A very strange but poetic film as was the filmmaker. Not recommended for everyone!

This is a weird, yet enjoyable movie. It is a quite old and very bizarre French movie. I have seen it twice. The first time I sampled some of the dialog for a dub song I made. Is that a fun fact or what?

As per a Cocteau film, The Blood of a Poet is an expression of breathlessly haunting ideas and images, some beyond the comprehension of logic, but none extraneous or wasted.

Cocteau was an amazing director. For something that seems so pretentious, it's actually a very dreamy, humanistic movie. It's sad more people don't know about this film.
