Slick and silly, Sword Master rarely reaches the thrilling heights of the many kinetic twirl-and-slice epics directed by its producer, the legendary Tsui Hark.

It's a great big, colourful, campy extravaganza in which often fake-looking CGI backgrounds don't detract from the enjoyment.

The characters are engaging, though the pacing is slow and the action is pretty anticlimactic. More or less a fun film.
