I thought the concept was much more compelling than the story.

Beautiful, quiet, nuanced, magical, closely observed. Contains one of the most riveting pieces of cinema I've ever seen - a close-up of a girl's face when she realizes she's been betrayed. I couldn't begin to describe what happened in her face then, but it was electric.

Cold and hard and slow, this film is detached and slightly fantastical, but charismatic all the same. A curious, melancholy romance.
