A good movie, it shows well the despair some seperated parents feel when teh system has made its choice, and their child is not left in a good situation. It was a good plan, but I like that they did not make it so easy. And of course, as a pool fan, I liked the shots they made on screen. Gut wrenching to watch at times though, you really feel for the kid.

This movie is brilliant. Everything about it is executed wonderfully: the acting is phenomenal, the story is beautiful, and the music is incredible. Famke Janssen proves that she isn't just supporting-cast material, and Rip Torn is finally given a role he can work with. If you see one movie you've never heard of this year (and you have a fondness for pool), this should be it.

Dank doldrums detracted; Even though Janssen's performance was solid, I felt detached from what otherwise could have been a very personal film.
