Such a by the numbers adaptation is disapointing from such a visionary and stylistic director.

It's a faithful and respectable version of Conrad's great classic, but not one that's memorable or exciting.

Usually it's safe to assume a book is better than the movie based on it. While I have never read Conrad's book, I feel quite certain this is the case.

For a made for TV movie, this is a fantastic film. A very faithful adaption of the same novel that inspied Apocalypse Now!, though of course the movies differ in so many ways that they perhaps shouldn't even be compared. I like this adaption a lot, though I could understand why some people wouldn't.
