Watched this yesterday. WOW it's a great film with lots of surprises and its really fun to watch. I love scifi films like these that make you think and deals with hard content. I love it.

How late can a thriller spring a plot twist that at least partially compensates for all the cavernous plot holes, risible dialogue, and ludicrously illogical behavior that precede it? Probably not nearly as late as the makers of Replicas wait before introducing a third-act reveal that brazenly acknowledges just how silly things have been up to that point.

Although I liked this movie somewhat better than I thought I would, that still doesn't mean it was a good movie. This movie is guilty of a huge number of plot holes, dumb thoughtless dialogue and stealing ideas from better movies in order to make a thoroughly forgettable & unintentionally funny movie. For me this movie falls into the forgettably bad category, not the "so bad it's good" category. Too bad, this movie could have been better and more interesting.

I'll only say it's not quite as bad as the critics say. It's not a good movie, but I do think the last 1/2 hour is decent both in terms of action and plot. But yes, unfortunately the first 1+ hour is really dumb. The plot holes, decisions that no normal person would make, script,...etc all ruin the movie overall.

There are interesting ideas in Replicas but they are ideas that take the back seat for suspense that does not grip or intrigue that does not interest. Reeves tries to carry the film the best he can but we have also, sadly, see him play this exact role before, many times. The most interesting thing in the movie is in the middle when Reeves brings back to life his family that died in a car crash. They are clones and each child feels different. His wife confronts him and realizes this truth. Reeves can do nothing but confess what he did. It is at that moment that the film should have turned into an amazing concept with complication but the filmmakers opted for a standard suspense with corporate bad guys. It's really a waste that this movie lands in the stack of what it could have been rather than what it ended up being: a mediocre standard film with nothing special to recommend.
