I haven't been this depressed by a film in a LONG time. Mark Ruffalo is at the top of his game, Connelly and Phoenix are good, although some of their chemistry seems a bit forced. Ultimately, this film pins you down and makes you feel just as cornered as the characters in it.

Most movies that tackle a subject such as the one in this movie can fall into laughable melodramatic territory. Thankfully, Reservation Road steers clear of that and heads for a more realistic story with powerful performances. Although it didn't exactly blow me away, it did connect me to its characters and didn't lose me with any illogical or stupid plot twists like so many other dramas. Jennifer Connelly is an amazing actress. Ruffalo and Phoenix were great as well.

The best efforts of the performers cannot authenticate a plot that no longer feels inevitable. It feels contrived. And the audience stays at a remove instead of entering someone else’s nightmare.

This movie was intense. Also the morality is very needed in our time. I really liked that it had a lot of psychological themes.
