I give this film five stars, not many films get that rating from me. I wish Michelle Williams had received an Oscar nomination for this performance because I think it's the best of her career. This film is heartbreaking to the point where I had tears streaming down my face. I never get emotional during films, like seriously never, but this film touched my heart. I think anyone who understands the strong bond between a person and their dog would feel the same way. There are so many questions you have about Wendy's past, but it doesn't really matter what got her to this point. I agree that it is a stark portrayal of what it's like to be poor in the U.S., and how there are not always many options.

This film has great character development. Michelle Williams can really carry a film on her own. This was a thoughtful and simple story that kept my full attention for the entire time. It's definitely worth seeing.
