My Best Girl (1927)

Joe Merrill, son of the millionaire owner of a chain of 5 and 10 cent stores, poses as Joe Grant, and takes a job in the stockroom of one of his father's stores, to prove that he can be a success without his father's influence. There he meets stockroom girl Maggie Johnson, and they fall in love. This causes problems, because Mrs. Merrill had planned for her son to marry Millicent Rogers, a high society girl.

This was the first silent movie that I ever had the pleasure of seeing, about five years ago or so. Mary Pickford is just as quirky as always, and it's such a charming story. Really great.

Although the romance in the film is as predictable as ever, this movie has charm and humor, and great actors. I really enjoyed it and I recommend it.

This is definitely my favorite silent film. In fact, this is the movie that made me fall in love with Pickford and her work. A truly marvelous final silent film for the actress, who sadly saw the end of her career when she tried "talkies."
