Stunning doc about a young man on trial for murder of an old lady. He is accused for the crime simply because he is black.

Well directed, well paced with McGuinness stealing the show.

This Academy Award winning documentary is one of the most gripping and intriguing I've ever seen. In this scathing look at the American legal system, we are shown the defense of a young, clearly innocent black teenager by two brilliant public attornies, Patrick McGuiness and Anne Finnell. Not only do they embarass the Jacksonville, Florida police department, they break down and destroy the cases of a detective, interrogator, and other witnesses with exhaustive preperation and dedication. Finnell and particularly the oft-hysterical McGuiness are the heroes in this well-shot doc by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade and you surely feel badly for the aloof, awkward Brenton Butler and his religious and warm family. Alternating between fascinating and gut-wrenching, it's a must see. I was glad to get a chance to attend an extensive Q&A with McGuiness and Finnell, two of America's best and brightest defense attorneys.

If there is *any* doubt in your mind whether the US criminal justice is severely racially biased, you need to see this movie. The chance of this ordeal happening to a white kid is 0.

With a better director, this would have been a classic like "The Thing Blue Line" or "Paradise Lost."
