"I bought my first pair of American shoes, they are from Italy" With my parents being immigrants from the Soviet Union "Moscow on the Hudson" strikes nerve with me. Lead by the always deep Robin Williams, and supporting roles from the Russian Rey and Kramorav. The film was playful in narrative but grief filled in story. The "blue jeans" scene and the whole Store shopping scene were hilariously accurate. Not for everyone, but of this is a subject close to you, than you can't hate it.

At times a very human and tender film, and at others a meandering film that hits the wrong notes as it switches tones. It only really works because of the genuine performance that Williams gives neither leaning on his broad comic sensibilities or his tendency to misty-eyed weepiness. The film centers around a Russian musician who defects to the US during a stateside concert. Moscow does an admirable job making the Soviet a real place and not a cartoon hell. The patriotism it evokes is also the kind Americans should be more proud of: Vladimir is a hard working immigrant who only seems to meet other immigrants of various backgrounds. A nation of immigrants. Moscow also doesn't shy away from the uglier side of America while also mining its fair share of fish out of water comedy. The whole thing just doesn't seem to come together in a way that is as satisfying as various parts.

Uma comà (C)dia histórica muito interessante.

Original seriocomedy balancing the haphazard, random, chaotic feel of everyday life with one man's determination to gain US citizenship. Maria Conchita Alonso is superb, though most impressive is Robin Williams.

What a terrific film, with one of the best performances in Robin Williams early latter part of his career. This seriocomedy, has political overtones about immigrants and how they will make it in America, and what they'll do to make it in life as an American. Williams sweet & sentimental performances is really the highlight of the entire movie which leads it into a strengthful film. Although, the movie does open pretty slow for the first half hour, it starts to pick up right when Wiliams character finally arrives in NY after that we get things cooking about the American life, many of us have never seen before.
