Breaking Glass is the story of punk singer Kate and her meteoric rise to stardom. Starting out in the rock pubs of London, Kate, assisted by her manager Danny, becomes a huge star overnight. One of my favourite films of all time, more for the music than the film. Hazel O' Connor stars as a singer who becomes a pop star who cant handle the fame and eventually has a mental breakdown (a bit like the SUBO of the early 1980's! but much nicer). Also features the great Phil Daniels and even Carver from The Bill! Great film but I don not think it would be eveyones cup of tea but great stuff.

Although a bit too bleak and gritty, the music and performance of O'Connor was great. Hope she is less angry now.

First time I'd seen this film for a very very long time, it's showing its age now, but the song's are still great, and it does show the bleak days of the late 70s, early 80s (I loved 'em) and the manipulative record industry.Also play spot the young star's in minor roles, the late Gary Olsen, Patrick Murray, to name just two.
