Where Mary Shelley the author succeeds in making the parallels of her life to the monster she created clear, Mary Shelley the movie fails to make enough connections for a complete and satisfying storytelling experience.

Why all the poor reviews? This is a handsomely mounted film with an excellent performance by Fanning. It certainly told me a lot I didn't know. And by no means was it boring. I don't know what you reviewers were expecting. Explosions every few minutes?
