Mac, the two-fisted, savvy cop finds that he's being saddled with a new partner, a known burnout, to work with him on a new and difficult case. The new partner is Ellis, an amazing detective, one who puts Sherlock Holmes to shame with his lightning-fast deductions. But he keeps assuming the personalities of entire casts of Television shows. This is one of those movies where each part, when taken by itself works, but when put together in a whole just doesn't quite do the trick. Mostly, Dan Aykroyd's 'crazy' performance is just annoying. In a different film, it might have been funny, but it was more jarring than anything. Still, it all makes for one of those weird, uneven 80s films that's part comedy, part grim action film. The crazy plot involving neo-Nazis and pornographers is pretty wacky. Certainly worth seeing once, but it's not making my list of favorites.

There is a myth going round that Dan Aykroyd used to be funny, based on this turgid "comedy" let me put that myth to bed. For the 2nd night in a row I have subjected myself to what is another awful movie. No chuckles here and very little in the way of action. I shall not recommend this one to my friends. NB: Before everyone gets on my case, I appreciate that "Trading Places" is a very good film and Dan Aykroyd if very good in that movie.

Funny, not amazingly funny, but i still like this movie. it just annoys me that like none of my friends even have heard of it. Just my own parents and my bf. Oh well :D
