Tommaso is the youngest son of the Cantones, a large, traditional southern Italian family operating a pasta-making business since the 1960s. On a trip home from Rome, where he studies literature and lives with his boyfriend, Tommaso decides to tell his parents the truth about himself. But when he is finally ready to come out in front of the entire family, his older brother Antonio ruins his plans.

Hackman & Aykroyd pair up for this early 90's buddy cop romp. This was the era when Aykroyd was really hitting his stride and Dom DeLuise was really fat.

I think Loose Cannons is a perfect example of a action/comedy film. With Gene Hackmans wisecracks, Dan Aykroyd being a schizo, and Dom Deluise being goofy you really can't lose. Hackman and Akroyd are mismatched partners. When there is a bunch of murders they get teamed up. Hackmans wisecracks in this movie are so good you can't help but laugh. Akroyd plays the schizophrenic who sometimes out of nowhere loses it. And when he does get ready to laugh big time. Now also add Dom Deluise who the bad guy's are out to get. He is pretty funny here too. To me that is a comedic star studded cast. You are well entertained through the whole movie and will find yourself laughing numerous times. Suspense and comedy collide in this epic caper Loose Cannons.

Barrel-scraping genre low point. Even bad by Dan Ackroyd's standards. The cop-buddy movie with improbable partners is absolutely hopeless. Complete with Gene Hackman wondering what the hell he signed up for, Ackroyd doing Roadrunner impressions, Dom DeLuise doing nothing and Nancy Travis managing the worst Israeli accent in the history of film.

I loved this movie. Dan Aykroyd was hysterical, as was Dom DeLuise. Gene Hackman was the perfect straight man. I laughed so hard, my stomach hurt and couldn't get through it until the 3rd try. It came at a time when life was difficult and I really needed a good laugh.

well unlike the critics i enjoyed this film, if even just for aykroyd's hilarious multiple personality scenes, esp. roadrunner. also love this quote at the end: "i have a hole in my ass." "that's why they call you an asshole."
